WaveShark

HF and VHF

RTTY

Baudot teleprinter text from 45.45 to 200 baud, either way up, read into the message view as it arrives.

RTTY is two tones and a five bit code, and it has outlived every prediction of its death: amateur contests, weather bulletins and a fair amount of utility traffic still use it. WaveShark reads the standard speeds and both polarities, so a reversed shift is not a dead channel.

On a radio that transmits, an over can be keyed back out, which makes the same window both sides of a contact.

What comes out

  • The decoded text, live as the characters arrive
  • Baud rate and shift
  • Polarity, so a reversed signal is labelled rather than mangled
