ISM sensors and remotes

About 130 device descriptions from the rtl_433 family: weather stations, thermometers, door contacts, gate remotes, security sensors and shelf labels.

This is the band most people start on, and the devices on it are the ones nobody thinks of as radio: the outdoor thermometer, the doorbell, the gate remote, the shelf label in a supermarket. Almost all of them carry a stable device id, which is what turns a survey into a list of devices rather than a list of transmissions.

Coverage is the thin part and the site will not pretend otherwise: rtl_433 has roughly 250 device decoders and WaveShark has about 130, verified field for field against rtl_433 25.02 on 97 recordings from its corpus. Most are YAML descriptions fetched from the waveshark-protocols repository, so a new device is a file rather than a release, and one in ~/.config/waveshark/protocols overrides it. A burst nothing claims is still kept, with its coding inferred and its bits sliced out.

What comes out

  • Device model and id, stable across transmissions
  • Temperature, humidity, rain and wind where the sensor sends them
  • Battery flag, channel and the button pressed on a remote
  • Raw timings and bits for anything unclaimed
$ waveshark --tune 433.92 --survey
