TPMS

Tyre pressure sensors as cars pass: the sensor id, the pressure, the temperature and whether the wheel is turning.

Every car built in the last decade has four radios in its wheels, each transmitting an id that does not change for the life of the sensor. That makes TPMS the most reliable way to recognise a vehicle passing a fixed point, which is exactly why it is worth knowing it is happening.

Ford and Renault sensors are decoded along with the generic families, with pressure and temperature where the sensor sends them. Europe uses 433.92 MHz and North America 315 MHz.

What comes out

  • Sensor id, unique per wheel
  • Pressure and temperature
  • Moving or stationary, where the sensor says
  • Battery and fault flags
