Wireless M-Bus
The heat, water, gas and electricity meters transmitting around you: manufacturer, meter number, version and type.
Wireless M-Bus mode T is what most European utility meters use to report themselves to a drive-by or fixed collector. Every meter identifies itself in clear even where the readings are encrypted, so a block of flats resolves into a list of meters by manufacturer and serial.
Feed the ones that are yours into Home Assistant with --ha-broker and --ha-spaces ism, wmbus, and the reading appears as a sensor with no vendor gateway involved.
What comes out
- Manufacturer code and meter serial number
- Device type: water, heat, gas or electricity
- Version, and the access number that increments per transmission
- Readings where the meter sends them unencrypted
