Itron ERT meters
North American utility meters: the consumption number, the meter id and the type, in SCM, SCM+ and IDM formats.
Itron ERT endpoints are on gas, water and electricity meters across North America, transmitting a consumption total every few seconds so a passing van or a fixed collector can read the street without anybody walking it.
The three message formats are read: SCM and SCM+ carry the running total, and IDM adds interval data. The meter id is stable, which is what makes a meter a device rather than a sighting.
What comes out
- Meter id and endpoint type
- Consumption total, as the meter counts it
- Tamper flags for the physical and encoder switches
- Message format: SCM, SCM+ or IDM
