Meteor-M LRPT
The Russian digital weather satellite: three MSU-MR channels drawn a strip of eight rows at a time as the pass comes over.
LRPT is the digital counterpart to APT, and the picture is sharper for it. The three MSU-MR channels arrive interleaved and are drawn on the video pane in strips as the frames are assembled, so a pass builds visibly rather than appearing at the end.
The same pass planning applies: the satellites view has the pass, and the receiver follows the Doppler shift across it without being touched.
What comes out
- Three MSU-MR channels as they arrive
- Frame and packet counts, so a poor pass is obvious
- The satellite and the pass it came from
