NOAA APT
Analogue weather satellite pictures from the NOAA birds, drawn as the pass comes over, with the pass itself planned in the satellites view.
APT is the oldest thing on this site and still the most satisfying: two visible and infrared channels sent as an audio-rate picture from a satellite passing overhead, and a picture of your own weather on the screen fifteen minutes later.
The satellites view lists the passes over your station for the next day with peak elevation and a sky plot, then follows the downlink through Doppler for the whole pass and closes the channel when the satellite sets. Nobody has to sit at the dial.
What comes out
- The picture, both channels, as the pass builds
- Which satellite, and its pass geometry
- Lines received, and the sync quality
