EAS and SAME
Alert headers off the seven NOAA Weather Radio channels: the event, the counties it covers and how long it lasts.
A SAME header is the burst of data at the front of a weather radio alert, and it says exactly what the alert is, which county codes it applies to, when it was issued and when it expires. That is the whole alert in machine-readable form before the announcer says a word.
All seven weather radio channels are placed, so the receiver finds the one your transmitter uses rather than waiting for you to guess.
What comes out
- Originator and event code, expanded to its name
- The FIPS county codes covered
- Issue time and purge time
- The station identifier at the end of the header
