2.4 GHz advertising channels
Bluetooth LE
Advertising packets on all three primary channels, Bluetooth 5 Long Range included, with Open Drone ID read where it is carried.
Every phone, watch, tag and speaker in range advertises on three channels, and those advertisements carry names, service ids and manufacturer data. Most modern devices rotate their address every fifteen minutes or so, which the devices view reports rather than hides.
Coded PHY, the Bluetooth 5 long range mode, is read as well, which matters because it is what the longer-range trackers and industrial sensors use.
What comes out
- Advertising address, and whether it is randomised
- Local name, service UUIDs and manufacturer data
- PHY and the advertising channel
- Open Drone ID, where a drone carries it over BLE
