WaveShark

x86_64 · msi and a zip

WaveShark for Windows

An installer, or a zip holding the executable on its own. WinUSB has to be bound to the dongle first.

Windows will not let any user-space program open an RTL2832U until WinUSB is bound to it, because the device arrives claiming to be a television tuner. Zadig does that in about thirty seconds and it only has to be done once per dongle. After that WaveShark drives it with its own USB driver, with no DLL beside the executable.

A LimeSDR works once LimeSuite is installed: LimeSuite.dll on the PATH or in the same folder as waveshark.exe. Speech runs on an NVIDIA card when the CUDA 12 runtime is present and on the CPU when it is not, and the window draws through DirectX 12 where the card has it.

First run

  1. Bind WinUSB with Zadig

Run Zadig, pick the RTL2832U interface, choose WinUSB and install. Pick the right interface if the dongle shows two.

  2. Install, or unzip

The .msi installs and upgrades in place. The zip holds waveshark.exe on its own, to run from wherever it lands.

  3. Press play

It opens on the dashboard at 433.92 MHz, where the sensors are.

Radio in, nothing else.

No account, no service and nothing phoning home. The binary is the program.
