Analogue VHF and UHF
MDC-1200
The burst a Motorola radio sends when its key goes down, naming the unit, so an analogue channel gains who as well as what.
MDC-1200 is the short data burst at the start or end of an analogue over. It carries a unit id, and sometimes an emergency or status code, which turns an unidentified voice channel into a roster of radios.
Read alongside the DTMF unit numbers and the CTCSS tone or DCS code the same channel carries, which together say which radio keyed up and which group it belongs to.
What comes out
- Unit id, in hex as the fleet map writes it
- Operation: push to talk, emergency, status or acknowledgement
- The channel and the time it keyed

Something did not decode?
Record the burst with --record and open an issue with the capture. A capture that decodes becomes a test fixture.
